criminal law

Criminal Law in Canada is covered by the Canadian Criminal Code.

Criminal Law covers a whole gambit of illegal activities from murder or treason, to petty crimes, such as shoplifting. Some criminal offences are more common than others.

The trial of some criminal offences may become very complex because of the way the evidence was gathered (i.e. electronic surveillance and search warrants).

Many trials involve Charter of Rights arguments. A skilled lawyer who does criminal defense work will be up-to-date or the latest law and decisions by the Superior Court, in order to be able to defend his client properly.
